I am a writer and historian of race, law, and empire in modern Africa. 

My research examines the history of Italian colonialism in Somalia and its legacies in memory, social formations, and material culture. I am an assistant professor in the Department of History at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, and hold a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a Ph.D. in History from Harvard University.
